   Experience authentic college residential life by living in an undergraduate residence hall on Duke University's world-renowned campus.

  Focus upon a single evening film series designed for fun and variety.
  Immerse yourself over three weeks in rich and varied residential experiences, going on an exciting excursion to Washington, DC, attending baseball games, participating in music and dance events, exploring American shopping, and much more!

Program Overview

Daytime Courses provides a stimulating and thought-provoking learning experience that will help you understand what it means to be a global citizen. You will choose one course from five options, with each option providing a unique perspective of citizenship. Rather than sitting at a desk and simply listening to a lecture while taking notes, you will engage in a variety of interactive assignments designed to build critical skills essential to preparing for the world beyond high school. You will participate in role playing, discussions, interviews, debates, and other dynamic educational activities while learning alongside peers from around the world. Summer Academy meets Monday through Friday for approximately six hours a day for classroom instruction. Additional enrichment activities are planned for evenings and weekends.

  • The Global Giver: Complete 60 hours of community service and Design Your Own Project.
  • The Global Entrepreneur: Create Inventions, Innovations, and Initiatives for Global Change.
  • The Global Leader: Leadership and Diplomacy
  • The Global Healer: The Foundation of Global Health

Evening Academics consists of film series and night expos. Evening film series will meet three times a week. Night expos will cover academic writing, college preparation and SAT test training.

Appication Requirements

We help US and international students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades to apply for Duke Summer Academy.

Housing and Meals

Participants will live in a Duke University residence hall with other high school students enrolled in Summer College.

You will have the support of a full administrative and residential staff with Residential Assistants (RAs) assigned to groups of approximately 15 students. Evening meals, included in the program fee, will be served buffet-style. You will have the option to eat morning and noon meals at a location of your choice using a "Flex" card programmed with a daily amount of cash available for morning and evening meals.
